Claudia Newman lives and works in Miami, Florida. She creates emotive, intimate, and colorful representational images that feature a close up perspective of nature. She draws inspiration from nature’s simple beauty and her approach relies heavily on observation and drawing. For the most part she is drawn to nature and the figure as subject matter and works on images that are not overly busy but lend themselves to a visually engaging interpretation through color. She received her Master’s in Fine Arts from Florida International University. She is a recipient of the Berkowitz Foundation Scholarship and winner of the Women in the Visual Arts Scholarship. She has exhibited extensively in South Florida and produced private commission works.
